Track History and Fun Facts: Since 1962, Finger Lakes has been the premier venue for live thoroughbred racing in Western New York. Finger Lakes opened in 1962 as a crowd of 9,200 arrived to make the track's first handle of $380,000. Since its conception in 1962, Finger Lakes has brought in over 17 million wagers and totaled $1.5 billion in wagers. In 2004, the excitement of over 1,000 video gaming machines was added to Finger Lakes as well as new dining options and entertainment venues. The facility once again expanded in 2006 with the addition of a 280-seat buffet restaurant and space for additional video gaming machines, totaling 1,200 video gaming machines.
