Hats off to the locals of Fargo

March 27th, 2009

I just wanted to add that the whole community up here has been quite amazing as it reacts to this crisis.  The Red River has risen to 40 feet above normal levels.  Flood level is at 18 feet!  So, literally thousands of volunteers have been helping make sandbags and build dikes around the city to protect it from the rising waters of the Red River.  There is also a new earthen dam which was built over the last week or so along the eastern edge of Downtown right on Second Avenue which protects the core business district.  Our office is only about 200 feet from this dike, which is at 43 feet.  The National Weather Service the waters may crest as high as 43 feet, but we hoping it doesn’t get there!

But hats off to the thousands of volunteers who have made millions of sandbags to protect against the flood waters.

Welcome!

March 27th, 2009

We were going to launch this blog next month, but moved up the launch to today so we can keep everyone better informed about the impact of the rising water levels in Fargo on our operations.

As you may know, we operate from Fargo, North Dakota as we are licensed by the North Dakota Racing Commission. We are experiencing record water levels due to the rising Red River, which is adjacent to our offices.  As a result, we have move our website to back-up servers located away from the Red River.  You may experience some interruption in reaching our site as the internet finds the new server location.

In addition, some information and features may not be operating as well as usual, as we are also reconnecting with all of our information providers from the new location.

Player Services has also relocated, but may not be as responsive as usual.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.  Thank you for your patience.

And good luck at the races!
